INCOME GUIDELINES
To participate in the Summer Youth Works! Program, your household must meet the following Income Eligibility requirements:
Low income categories are:
- Receives or is a member of a family that receives cash payments under a Federal, State, or Local income based public assistance program
- Is a member of a household that receives (or has been determined within the 6 month period prior to application to be eligible to receive) food stamps
- Received an income, or is a member of a family that received a total family income for 6 months that does not exceed the amounts on the Low Income Chart below
Determining Income
- Along with your parent(s) or guardian(s), total your household income for the past 6 months.
- Once you have that 6 month total review the Includable and Excludable list of income directly below and subtract all Excludable Income from your total income. (Excludable income does not count toward determining your household income eligibility.)

Includable and Excludable Income for WIA
The total includable income of an individual or a family for the 6-month period prior to application for the program.

Needs-Based scholarship assistance, and financial assistance under Title IV of the Higher Education Act (i.e., Pell Grants Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants and Federal Work Study. Stafford and Perkins loans like any other kind of loan are debt and not income) |

Pay and allowances received under Title 38 Chapters 11, 13, 30, 31, 32, 35, and 36. Determining if your income qualifies
See Income Chart below
- Find the number living in your household and directly below that you will see an income amount.
- If your household income does not exceed that amount you are eligible for the Summer Youth Works! Program.
- If your household income does exceed that amount then STOP and call your Service Provider for clarification.
